Ferdinand A. Porsche

 

Stuttgart, 1935-2012
Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche came from a family of famous automotive engineers; he is the son of Anton Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, and grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, designer of the Volkswagen Beetle. When he was still a student of the University of Design in Ulm, he designed one of the most successful cars of all time, the Porsche 911 (1963). In 1972, he left the family to establish Porsche Design studio which soon became famous for the innovations introduced on IWC watches and Carrera sunglasses. In the following years, the studio designed cameras, appliances, clothing and furniture, including the Antropovarius chair for Frau (1982).
